Summer Trend : Urban Safari by ainihapsari featuring cropped pants

Adventurous and nature loving women rejoice! If you don’t already have something Safari in your wardrobe take off a day and go get yourself a parachute dress, a shirt dress or bermudas shorts, a hat, lots and lots of bangles and wooden accessories, an animal print chiffon top, a kaki cardigan or a leopard print cargo jacket, a ruffle front trench, a camp blouse, an animal printed tunic and a wide buckle belt. And this is just the beginning. The hottest trend of this summer it’s called Safari Chic.

There are two possible ways to wear your safari: whether you go with African inspired clothing and accessories, some tribal style look with ethnic influences or military attire, the safari trend is on the way from runway to streets. Why? Simply because: “L’Afrique c’est chic!”. But, we all have to keep in mind that we want to create an urban safari, an easy tribal outfit and not some Queen Of the Jungle look. Complete your outfit with bangles but don’t exaggerate. Adding bohemian layers to your outfit will transform it into a romantic safari but you can always edge it up with stronger pieces like prominent collars, leather accessories and last but not the least gladiator sandals. This look is very easy to adapt from day to night by mixing different fabrics and outrageously bright colors and you can also transform it effortlessly to a variety of contexts. I’m thinking jungle-elegant accessories, sensuous shapes, maybe some vintage-like touches here and there, a sleeveless top paired with a long skirt for a night out or a safari Henley dress and animal print wedges during the day. How about a draped dress with African inspired print and a sharply tailored safari jacket in soft nude colors? Would this be fabulous enough to take his breath away? If not, some chunky tribal jewelry like bold hoop earrings and safari bangle bracelets are hot, hot, hot! Modern Safari style blends together urban and African concepts, creates arquitectonic silhouettes and is here to tell us that “Fashion doesn’t mean trendy. Fashion means creating your own style.” Forget about rules and follow your instincts, especially when picking up colors. You can always add some personality in your style.

Talking about colors…kaki of course would be the first one that comes to my mind, then I would always pick natural colors, earth and wood tones, bamboo, pantones croissant as a base, delicious pinkish undertones and all those multi-hued watercolors… you know…just to keep the mix fresh. All kinds of animal prints, like zebra, python and leopard, will create an image of opulence and classy lavishness. Keep in mind that safari style is all about contrasts and instinctual decisions, it’s a style that never looks overdone or over thought. Yes girls this is what we call “disheveled perfection”, this is the spirit of laconic nonchalance, the spirit of sheer indulgence, that careless, ruffled, rumpled and tousled look that for some unknown reason is extremely charming and transforms you into the girl in the enviable ensemble. Go with furs (fake obviously, because a style build upon nature has to be environmental friendly), extravagant shoes, oversized clutches and statement jewelry to create a subtle, very contemporary optic effect.

Safari means “to travel” so this trend has to be comfortable and practical. You can rock the trend with a white t-shirt and a pair of low rise cuffed Bermudas shorts, a cargo Jacket and of course aviator shades.

Step into the sun and embrace the wild side of fashion. Follow your animal instincts this summer and let’s talk about dense tropical forests of the jungle and African savannas, about fast-flowing rivers and sheer limestone cliffs, about clear signs of nature ringing in your ears like an invisible forest orchestra and about a great adventure that is waiting for you. Are you going to wear your Safari today?
